Heart wrenching adoration Part-10

After giving  a piece of mind,I finally got rid of Lavanya and walked around, searching for khushi. I cursed under my breath. What a great timing Lavanya had, gibbering all sort of nonsense, as if khushi needed anything more to feel more low!I had somehow uplifted her mood and she had spoiled everything! Lavanya’s snotty demeanour was stretching my nerves to breaking point.

I ducked inside the Library, ignoring the hawk-like glare of our dear librarian and looked around for khushi,but she wasn’t on the ground floor or even  the first floor, so I climbed a flight of stairs to get to the top.

“Ah,but you are a newbie, aren’t you?I’ve never seen you before.”I heard a gruff,throaty voice floating down the stairs and I recognised it at once.My hands curled into a fist.

“Yes Sir.”Khushi squeaked timidly.

“Don’t you think you should be out there,enjoying the weather me dear child instead of wearing your lovely eyes out on these grubby books?”I heard Bhushan Sir ask khushi,and I climbed up the last flight of stairs to emerge on the top.

“No Sir. I need to study this to get a grasp of the topics we are going to learn this year and anyways, my physics is weak.So,I should better get started.”Khushi fidgeted nervously.

“Oh is it?But,you look like a brainy one!Now now khushi,I’ll teach you physics.Then,it’ll be easier for you.”Bhushan sir said coyly, patting khushi’s hand and nearly leaning over her.

Khushi flinched and jerked her hand away.She adjusted her chair inconspicuously to put some distance between her and that creep of a teacher,but that pervert was unashamedly persistent.

“I...Its ok sir.I’ll manage!You need not bother!”She said,trying to pull her book away,but Bhushan simply put his hand on hers to stop her and I swallowed back the bile that rose to my throat.

 Bhushan Bajpeyi was the most smarmiest person I had ever had the misfortune to meet. He flirted around with girls,no matter how small they were and was literally badly defamed and loathed among students.

I glared at him!I had to stop him now or else I’ll forget the standard students’s decorum and hit him or something!

“Its ok my dear !I can...”

“That’s ok sir!I’ll help khushi!”I said determinedly,marching towards the table where they were sitting.I didn’t attempt to hide my glower and Bhushan immediately let go off khushi’s hand, making her sigh in relief.

“Arnav,my dear boy!How are you?”Bhushan fluttered,acting as if nothing had transpired.He truly was a shameless man!

“I’m fine sir!No,if you will excuse us,khushi’s sister is searching for her.”I said tersely,and without waiting for his reply,I just took khushi by her arm and pulled her out.

“Thank God Arnav you came!That guys was such a creep and he’s supposed to be our teacher!” Khushi muttered relieved,rubbing the hand Bhushan had held as if trying to erase his touch.

“Khushi,he’s a flirtatious, cheap mince pie,who does everything but teaching.So,if you cross path with him next time, just rush put of the place or something!He’s not even worth talking.”I swore vehemently, still feeling angry.Khushi nodded mutely and we walked together on the grounds towards the hostel.

It was twilight.The darkness was slowly beginning to encompass the city in its giant black wings and moon was just visible behind a greyish, cottony wisp of cloud.We walked in silence, until khushi hesitantly broke it.

“Uh Arnav,I hope I didn’t create any trouble for you.”She said uncomfortably, biting her lower lip. I frowned.

“What are you talking about?”

“Well, you know that time on the ground...I yelled at that girlfriend of yours.I hope I didn’t brew up any sort of misunderstanding between you guys and I’m really sorry for my behaviour,but you see I can’t stand it if someone accuses or yells at me for  no fault of mine.I simply couldn’t reatain my temper!I could apologise to her if you want,make her understand things and...”

“Hey now stop!who the hell told you that she is my girlfriend?”I turned around to look at her with mingled amusement and incredulity, being caught completely off guard.

“Well...I guessed so!She was literally burning with jealousy.”Khushi conceded sheepishly.I sighed.

“khushi, she is not my girlfriend.In fact,I don’t even count her as my friend!Well...she does have this huge crush on me,but I despite my disinterest in her, she keeps on nagging me.She has deluded herself into thinking that I like her or something.”I tried to explain , hoping that she would not entertain any wrong notion regarding me and Lavanya.

“Oh!”Khushi huffed.

“Why don’t you make make it clear to her that you’re not interested?”Khushi demanded and I her tone forced me to wonder whether she was jealous.My heart fluttered at the mere thought, but I dared not hope.

“I’ve tried to do so several times, but it seems she doesn’t even have slightest trace of brain in that thick skull of hers!Some people are truly hard to shake off.”I said vociferously.

“Life is complicated!”Khushi commented shortly and resumed walking while I watched her surreptitiously from the corner of my eyes, wondering whether my doubts were true or not. But, I didn’t want to push my luck.

So,I simply left her at the girl’s hostel and sauntered towards my dorm,leaving everything on the puissant time to decide!That was the only way to keep my sanity...
